What are your hours of operation?
Chester Child Development Center's hours of quality education are 6:30am - 6:30pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of the following holidays:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

What age children do you accept?
Chester Child Development Center enrolls ages 2 to 12 without discrimination on the basis of political affiliation, religion, race, sex or mental or physical disabilities. Our service includes full-time care for ages 2 through Junior Kindergarten. We also offer half-day educational programs for ages 3 and 4 years old. In addition, we offer before- and after-school care for children ages 5 through 12 who attend Harrowgate, Ecoff, Curtis or CC Wells Elementary School, as well as Carver Middle School. We also offer a full-day Summer Camp program for school-age children.

Is transportation provided to local schools?
Yes. Chester Child Development Center provides transportation to and from Harrowgate, Ecoff and Curtis Elementary Schools. A Chesterfield County school bus delivers children to and from Chester Child Development to CC Wells Elementary and Carver Middle School.

May I tour your facility?
Absolutely. Chester Child Development Center maintains an “open door policy” and invites you to stop by whenever it is convenient for you during our hours of operation.

Are you accredited?
Yes. Chester Child Development Center is a nationally accredited child development center. We are accredited by the International Academy for Private Education (IAPE).

What security precautions are present?
Chester Child Development Center has a locked front entrance with a security code key pad. The center is also equipped with a Video Monitoring system. There is a monitor located on the front desk for viewing of each area. Parents are welcome and encouraged to use these monitors for observations of their child’s room.

Do you provide meals and snacks?
Yes. Chester Child Development Preschool Center provides a state-approved nutritious lunch, as well as morning and afternoon snacks to the children present during serving times. Menus have been prepared to meet the daily nutritional requirements of our Virginia State license.

Do the children go outside every day?
Yes. Weather permitting, the children play outside in the morning and afternoon in one of four age-appropriate playgrounds.

How do I enroll my child?
You and your child are invited to tour Chester Child Development Center, at which time you will be given your enrollment packet.

What are the fees?
There is an annual Registration Fee per family due upon application. This fee covers the partial cost of your child's participation in school insurance, office processing costs, and classroom supplies. This fee is not refundable.

How long has Chester Child Development Center been in operation?
The building was architecturally designed for childcare and built in 1977.
