Clover Hill Children's Center Curriculum

Clover Hill Children's Center
Curriculum

Our curriculum includes emergent reading, math, science, social studies, and is enhanced with enrichment classes in creative movement, art, music, sign language, second language and computers.

Our preschool teachers instruct curriculum through the EXCEED Preschool Curriculum . EXCEED Curriculum is a theme based curriculum that allows children an opportunity to explore in a developmentally appropriate environment.

INFANT CARE : (6 weeks – 1 year)
A special place for a most special age. Our nursery has been specifically designed to create a warm and secure environment for your infant. By limiting the number of infants in our nursery to 4, we can provide each child with the opportunity to develop at his or her own pace. Our infant caregivers are nurturing, loving, professionals trained in health, safety, and early childhood education. Through the use of age-appropriate toys and materials, our loving staff will guide your child through this important early stage of development. We encourage Moms and Dads to visit during the day, whether to feed their baby or simply to play with them. We strive to set the child's schedule to remain consistent with their parents' schedule at home.

TODDLERS (1 year – 2 years)
Caring for toddlers is about building relationships and making the most of everyday experiences and routines, while providing a comprehensive curriculum. Toddlers learn through sensory experiences that enhance their cognitive, language, motor and social skills. They begin to turn ideas into words and phrases to express themselves. Toddlers practice the value of sharing and cooperating through group play.

Our nurturing staff understands these basic principles of toddler development and are eager to help build a foundation and future for each child. Our program provides a safe, stimulating, and fully accessible environment where children can explore and learn. We work individually with the children to help them experience the initial stages of social interactions, language development, and learning through discovery.

Teachers plan days filled with art, music, movement, and outdoor running and climbing. There is also quiet time for books and puzzles.

TWO'S (2 years – 3 years)
Two's are anxious to learn. Your child will discover something new each day under the caring eyes of our experienced teachers. They are busy exploring their environment and learning to communicate their thoughts. They will learn to socialize with others and to begin to take care of themselves independently. Just as importantly, they need to learn many new skills in thought processing and communicating. In addition, they are starting to become toilet trained; their memory is improving; they understand many words and can say quite a few clearly.

Our stimulating program encourages two-year-olds to develop their minds and bodies in a safe and healthy place. Your child will build skills and confidence through games, songs, movement and art. By encouraging child-directed play, we ensure that your child develops at his own unique pace. Our teachers love to sing, dance, and help them make up stories while introducing them to the world around them. Your child also needs to be stimulated through daily active play, so our twos are taken outside twice a day to play on their own age-appropriate playground.

PRESCHOOL & JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN: (3 & 4 years)
We offer full and part-time programs for this age group, including a half-day preschool .

Preschool children are provided stimulating and challenging activities that correspond to their own developmental level. Our programs nurture self-esteem and self-confidence. For younger children, we emphasize creativity, story telling, vocabulary development, and socialization. For Junior Kindergarten children, we build upon earlier skills with pre-reading and math aptitudes to enhance basic elementary school readiness which will guide them toward future academic success.

To best prepare your inquisitive child for elementary school, we offer special learning centers where children are given the opportunity to choose their own activities. You will watch imaginations grow when children receive “hands on” experience with language arts, dramatic play, mathematics, computers, science, art and music. We realize the value of free play, and our preschoolers have their own age-appropriate playground where they can release their energy and their creativity. We believe exercise and fresh air are essential to a child's well-being.

SCHOOL-AGERS (5 years – 12 years)
Our before and after school programs are designed to complement the structured day of elementary school. We provide a relaxed mix of learning and recreation, including a variety of activities such as games, sports, music, arts and crafts, and field trips. Our students learn teamwork skills through active outdoor games and activities supervised by our teachers. The children get time to spend with their friends and enjoy activities that are relevant to school age interest. Classrooms as well as playgrounds are grouped by grade level. Our school age program provides a fun filled (and educational!) offering during holidays, teacher in-service days and other school breaks. In addition, homework time is provided and strongly encouraged, upon parent's request.

SUMMER CAMP (5 years – 12 years)
Our summer calendar is packed with excitement. This full time summer camp offers a variety of activities including swimming, skating, bowling, miniature golf, arts and crafts, science classes, and a variety of educational field trips. In addition, we offer one-week “mini-camps” which may include soccer, tennis, horseback riding, computer, dance, cheerleading, and many other exciting activities. Our energetic teachers look forward to planning a fun and fabulous summer for the children.
